Negative impacts of microcystin-LR and glyphosate on zebrafish intestine: Linked with gut microbiota and microRNAs?

Microcystin-LR (MC-LR) and glyphosate (GLY) have been classified as a Group 2B 2A carcinogens for humans, respectively, frequently found in aquatic ecosystems. However, data on the potential hazard of MC-LR GLY exposure to fish gut are relatively scarce. In current study, subacute toxicity test zebrafish exposed (35 μg L−1) (3.5 mg L−1), either alone or combination was performed 21 d. The results showed that or/and treatment reduced mRNA levels tight junction genes (claudin-5, occludin, zonula occludens-1) altered diamine oxidase D-lactic, indicating increased intestinal permeability zebrafish. Furthermore, and/or remarkably IL-1β IL-8 but decreased IL-10 TGF-β, induced an inflammatory response gut. also activated superoxide dismutase catalase, generally upregulated p53, bax, bcl-2, caspase-3, caspase-9, downregulated caspase-8 caused notable histological injury Moreover, significantly microbial community expression miRNAs (miR-146a, miR-155, miR-16, miR-21, miR-223).
